Build Once and You'll Never Have to
Re-Explain to AI Again
Imagine a world where you never have to re-explain yourself to AI again. It already knows who you are and how you operate.
Imagine a folder titled “[Your Name]'s Brain.”
Inside of that folder are files called “About Me” and “Working Preferences”, as well as another folder titled “Memory.”
Now you know what's possible. Let me show you where to begin.
Here's an honest truth before going further. Building this system means giving AI some information about yourself, but nothing sensitive or confidential. Nothing you won't tell your friend at a coffee shop.
There was an instance where AI flagged me and warned me not to share any sensitive information with it. I was having technical difficulties and about to upload a screenshot of my browser. Before I had a chance to enter the image into AI, it explicitly warned me not to include any billing information in the screenshot.
AI tools are not here to trick you. They're here to help if you let them. It's just important to know that getting valuable output requires valuable input. That input has a name: context.
Think back to the folder. “[Your Name]'s Brain.”
Let's open it.
The first file “About Me” is three short paragraphs. It tells AI that I used to be a college basketball coach, thoroughly enjoyed it, but was ready to move on. I explained that I had absolutely no technical background and that my goal was to gradually learn about how to use AI to increase my productivity. A couple months later, it asked me if I wanted to build an app and start a website for non-technical people.
My second file is “Working Preferences.” This one explains how I prefer planning first, execution second. I make sure that it asks me clarifying questions to extract more information if it's unsure about something. I also make sure that AI lets me know when it's time to start a fresh conversation before the current one gets too long, to ensure that no valuable work progress ever gets lost.
Then there's the “Memory” folder. This is where context files build over time. Terminology we discussed. Decisions that I already finalized. This is the folder where your project details will live so that you never have to re-explain yourself to AI again.
The more files you begin to create, the more effective AI will become.
You don't have to build all of this today. Be ready to play the long game so you can enjoy the benefits of this tool forever.
A full system takes time to develop. Anyone who pretends it's a quick fix either hasn't done it, or is just craving attention.
Here's what you can do right now. Open your AI tool of choice (I personally prefer Claude). Enter the following prompt:
That's it. 10 minutes and you'll have a valuable context document you can save and use in every session going forward. Ask AI how to use this information in future chats.
Let me know how it goes.
